​That’s why at Premier PaintWorks, we still insist on using premium oil-based primers for prep work. Here is why it makes a massive difference for your home's longevity:

​Locks Down Old Paint: Previously painted homes often have old, chalky, or brittle paint layers. Standard latex primer just sits on top of this dust and eventually peels. Oil primer penetrates deep, binding those old layers together and gluing them to the house.

​Seals Bare Wood: It blocks wood tannins (natural oils) from bleeding through, preventing ugly brown stains and stopping moisture from getting trapped underneath.

​The Perfect Foundation: Once the oil primer locks down the surface, we apply high-quality latex topcoats. This gives you the ultimate combination: the absolute seal and anchor of oil underneath, with the flexible, fade-resistant protection of latex on top.
